We are so proud and grateful to announce that HEALTH SHAK is now officially open for you in a Covid-19 safe environment! As of Monday 28th September 2020, our online system is open for you to be able to book appointments, shop, and access educational resources.
The HEALTH SHAK team would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has supported our journey thus far; we really would not be here without you. We would also like to welcome everybody who is joining our community now - we look forward to sharing our journey with you.
In March 2020, we launched our ‘London’s first Health Shack’ crowdfunding campaign, funded by Natwest. In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, we managed to win an award of £5,500 in addition to raising over £10,000 from almost 250 supporters. Out of over 300 projects nationwide, our business idea came in second place. The success of this competition proved that people both want and need our services. Having been born during such unprecedented times, we have developed a model for our business that aims to keep you as safe as possible. Here is a summary of what we're doing to keep you safe:

Our personalised customer journey begins with a 30-minute virtual consultation online via Zoom. This allows us to get to know you and about your problem in the safest way possible, without any physical contact. During this call, your practitioner will conduct a screening questionnaire regarding Covid-19 symptoms, prior to accepting any appointments. Once you have been deemed appropriate, you will be able to schedule appointments for our new London office, located in Chiswick.
We are operating a no-reception practice. This helps to reduce the rate of reproduction (R), by preventing multiple people being in an enclosed space. This method also minimises your contact with hard surfaces in our reception area, such as desks, chairs, and magazines. We will operate a one-in-one-out policy, to avoid you coming into contact with others unnecessarily, and allowing us to sanitise surfaces prior to your entry to the building.
We have created a mobile check-in service, allowing you to let us know when you have arrived for your appointment with your mobile device. Once you have checked in, you will be greeted at the front door by your practitioner, who will take your temperature, and lead you to your treatment room. We recommend you to arrive promptly for your appointment to make this process as smooth as possible for you. We will also do our best to be on time for you, but please do be patient, as healthcare can be unpredictable at times.
Our practitioners will be wearing full PPE for all of your appointments. This includes disposable gloves, apron and face mask, as well as a visor, where necessary. This is done to protect both you and your practitioner, as well as the wider community. When you visit us, please follow the legal guidance on wearing a face covering. If you forget to bring one, we will provide you with a disposable face mask. As a reminder, the police are able to issue fines for not wearing a face covering, unless you are exempt. Hand sanitising stations have been made available for you in both the reception area and treatment room.
In between appointments, any surfaces patients are likely to come into contact with will be sanitised. This includes the treatment table, chair, desk, door handles and iPad. In between treatment sessions, we will also perform a deeper sanitisation of our treatment room and reception area. We would ask that you please keep all your personal belongings (e.g. phone, keys, wallet), as well as any removable items (e.g. watch, glasses, belt) inside a bag or jacket pocket during your appointment, rather than on our desk. This helps to reduce the number of surfaces you are coming into contact with.
To allow us time to clean, sanitise, and change into fresh PPE, we have included a short break in between appointments. We have made the conscious decision to limit our capacity to provide you with the safest possible setting for your sessions.
We continue to prioritise making our clinic as safe as we possibly can, and we are continually looking for new ways to do so, as well as monitoring government guidance to make sure we respond to any changes straightaway. We are very grateful to you for continuing to follow the guidelines that help to protect us all.
